Taking Shape is proud to announce our Nutrition program!  As much as most of us would like to believe that as long as we workout we can eat what we want, its just a huge lie! As a matter of fact, I’d say you are wasting your time in the gym until you clean up your diet and implement a sound fitness nutrition protocol. It would be nice if we could work off last night’s junk meal with some extra cardio. Despite what some trainers would have you believe, it just doesn’t work that way.

When you are about to cheat and eat that slice of pizza or bowl of ice cream, remember the Fitness Nutrition 80:20 rule. What goes into your mouth accounts for 80% of how you look.

 

Nigel Jenkins: 

Chef Nigel Jenkins has been providing professional level skills for over 36 years.  He is also a certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist.  Food and Health are his passion and is proud to share his knowledge.  

Chef Nigel spent 26 years in the British Royal Navy where he has the following honors of mentioning: Admiral's personal chef, First Sea Lord's personal chef, catered for dignitaries, both George Bush's, Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and Princess Anne.  

Chef Nigel has also been a very active athlete completing 3 full IronMans, 3 half IronMans, 5 full marathons, and also played semi pro soccer.  Chef Nigel resides in Virginia Beach with his wife Patti and his daughter Catherine

 

Esther Matus:

Esther has been involved in the wellness industry for almost a decade. She began Personal Training while pursuing her BS in Exercise Science at Boston University and has become increasingly involved in health and wellness since then. She’s expanded her knowledge base to include pre- and post-natal training, TRX suspension training, and Lifestyle/Nutrition Coaching.

 

While she loves helping people get fitter, her real passion lies in helping clients make positive lifestyle changes through a combination of nutrition, exercise, and overall wellbeing. She works with a diverse clientele & looks forward to helping you achieve a happier & healthier life!

                                                                We’ll assess your health and medical history, current eating habits, and overall lifestyle and goals to help identify your individual needs. Together we’ll assess obstacles and set behavior goals to help you get to where you want to be. We’ll focus on equipping you with the knowledge and tools you need to succeed. Follow-up visits will focus on accountability, assessment of  progress, nutrition education, addressing any challenges or problem areas, answering questions, and helping you to stay motivated and inspired!

 

                                        One of the first steps toward a new, healthier you is setting yourself up for success in the kitchen. We’ll come to your house to survey your setup, looking for high-quality & low-quality foods, and for time-saving food prep appliances & storage systems. We’ll get rid of trigger foods or those not serving your needs & replace them with more nutrient dense alternatives.

 

                                 The key to staying on track with your nutritional goals during a busy week is being prepared. Dedicating a couple of hours each week to planning your meals and preparing as much of them in advance as possible will pay for itself in dividends throughout the week. We’ll work together to plan a menu and grocery list and give you shortcuts to save you time all week.

 

                                         We’ll venture out to a local grocery store and go through it aisle by aisle to show you how to make good food choices, read labels, pick out healthy on-the-go options, and answer questions. This workshop makes a great compliment to the Meal Planning workshop but is beneficial as a stand-alone offering, as well.
